Welcome to the Institute of Mechanical Handling and Logistics!
IFT is one of the strongest research institutes in the Faculty 7, Engineering Design, Production Engeneering and Automotive Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. Our focus lies in the areas of classical mechanical handling and logistics. With its future-oriented research areas, application-oriented lectures and seminars, the IFT offers a broad and exciting spectrum for students and partners from industry. Our three departments Rope Technology, Machine Design and Material Flow Automation as well as Logistics reflect the strategic orientation of the main research areas of the institute.
Within the context of basic and applied research projects, we develop future-oriented methods, processes, systems and components. We are involved in the research project ARENA2036, Europe's largest research factory for the changeable production of the future.
The IFT is a member of the Stuttgart Center for Manufacturing Technologies PZS, in which the different strengths of the nine production engineering institutes of the University of Stuttgart are bundled and thus enormous synergies are created.
