As a university research institute, we are engaged in basic and applied research in our fields of rope technology, machine design and material flow automation as well as logistics. Founded in 1927 with a focus on classical mechanical handling, the IFT has steadily expanded its core competencies.
Today, we offer a broad range of services that includes not only the design, optimization and control of mechanical engineering components, but also the evaluation and optimization of production and logistics processes. We implement our future- and practice-oriented ideas together with our partners from industry, university research and politics.
At the IFT, we have 2,200 m2 of laboratory space with state-of-the-art testing and experimental facilities at our disposal for research operations. With our approximately 40 employees in research, technology and administration, we are broadly positioned and also develop new approaches on an international level.
