The institute's expertise lies in its comprehensive competence in all aspects of rope technology and its diverse applications. We combine a broad spectrum of specialist knowledge, from destructive and non-destructive rope testing, standardization and guideline work to rope service life calculation, rope drive design and damage analysis. We cover the area of steel wire ropes as well as hybrid ropes and fully synthetic fiber ropes.
Our experience covers all the main areas of rope applications, both in the field of fiber ropes and wire ropes. Below you will find some examples of the wide range of rope applications.
- Construction and mechanical engineering: Wire ropes are an indispensable part of cranes, excavators, winches and other construction machinery. They are essential for lifting and conveying operations.
- Passenger transportation, e.g. cable cars and elevators: Wire ropes are essential for elevators and conveyor systems, ensuring the safe movement and transportation of people.
- Safety and protection applications: Stainless steel wire ropes are the ideal choice for railings and other safety applications thanks to their high corrosion resistance and durability.
- In maritime applications, offshore: they are used for mooring ropes on ships and floating platforms, hoist ropes for working vessels in pipeline laying and deep-sea mining, towing wires, and more.
- Sport and leisure: In sport and leisure activities, such as climbing or sailing
- Agriculture and forestry: Fiber ropes are used in agriculture and forestry, for example when pulling loads or in livestock farming.
- Special applications: Furniture construction, automotive industry, stage technology, etc.
The numerous possible uses of wire and fiber ropes in various industries and applications are indisputable.
